Well here I am, hanging between 175 and 180 for the last 6 months! If you had told me a year ago that I would be here, I’m not sure I would have believed it. All I could focus on was losing the next 5 pounds and how I would feel.
I think even then I was focused on particular dates, events etc. Now, I’m just focused on getting to my goal however long it takes.
I’ve quit lying to myself thinking that I’m losing weight, I’ve simply been maintaining these last 6 months! At least I know how to maintain now. That is a very useful skill that I didn’t have before.
Here is what I’ve learned about maintaining (in my particular case):
1. I can have ice cream every day if I want, I just can’t have a lot of it.
2. I can have alcohol 3-4 times a week, but not 7 days.
3. Moving every day is so helpful in all sorts of ways, but it will not erase overeating.
4. Sometimes when I eat, I’m not really hungry. In order to maintain, I have to pay attention to that.
5. If I want to lose more, I know how to do that, what to adjust in order to lose again!
That’s about it. I might make it a goal to promote this blog, as I just paid my yearly fee to WordPress and might as well make something of it!!
