Allrightey Then!

I’m back from a vacation where I actually lost weight! Can’t even believe that. I was prepared to stay the same or even gain a little. What’s the secret? Well, it’s no secret, really. I just didn’t over-eat. That’s it. I’m sure the average 15k steps per day helped, but I now know that exercising is not the key to losing weight. That’s my takeaway.

I am now in territory I haven’t seen in more than 20 years. I am firmly in the 180s, which I *never* t hought I’d see this side of old age.

I’ve learned so much:

1) I really can eat whatever I want, just not however much I might want in the moment.

2) People treat you differently when you’re not obese.

I forgot this part! I’m now merely overweight, not obese. Again, for the first time in 20 years.

3) Some people cannot help themselves when speaking to someone who has recently lost weight. “Well, if you had weighed what you weigh now, your surgery recovery would have been a lot faster!”

*sigh*

4) I no longer mind looking in the mirror or walking around hotel rooms half-clothed or un-clothed.

5) The compulsion to buy clothes that fit is gone…because so many more clothes fit me now. I have a better choice, and no pressure to buy something just because it fits.

This one really has floored me. I didn’t realize how many pieces of clothing I bought simply because it fit, not even that I liked it. Amazing.

6) Leading by example is difficult.Meaning…keeping your mouth shut when family members are having their struggles and don’t really want to hear your advice.

More about this another time.

That’s all I got right now. The trip was wonderful, I’m still recovering from jet lag. I’ll say this: Airplane seatbelts? No problem. Room in the seat? No problem.

On to the low 180s and ultimate goal (I think) of 175!!!
